When submitting a contest entry, you provide:

  • Photo (optional)
  • Grade level
  • School name
  • City, state, and country
  • Uploaded video file (for transcription)

Automatically Collected Information

  • Pages visited and time spent on the Platform

How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

The following information is published on dmvedu.org as part of your contest submission page:

  • Embedded TikTok video

  • TikTok engagement stats (views, comments, likes)
  • Leaderboard ranking

Service Providers

We may share information with third-party service providers who assist in operating the Platform, including:
  • Hosting and infrastructure providers*

  • Transcription and AI services (for video-to-text conversion and content moderation)
These providers are contractually required to use your data only for the purposes of providing services to us.

Data from TikTok

We access TikTok data solely through TikTok’s official APIs (Login Kit and the video.list scope) in compliance with TikTok’s Developer Terms of Service.
  • We only access data you have explicitly authorized
  • TikTok engagement metrics are used solely for contest ranking purposes
  • We do not store TikTok data beyond what is necessary for the contest

Data Retention

  • Active contest data: retained for the duration of the contest round and a reasonable period afterward for winner verification and prize fulfillment
  • Published content on dmvedu.org: retained indefinitely as part of DmvEdu’s educational content library, unless you request removal
  • TikTok OAuth tokens: retained only as long as needed to sync engagement metrics during the contest period, then deleted
  • Email addresses: retained for contest communications; you may unsubscribe at any time

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Correction: request correction of inaccurate personal information
